Weekend Wrap-Up

Hello all.
Sorry if I have been a little M.I.A. lately.

I'm a jet-setter, remember?
(Please infer sarcasm!)

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Bay Area.
Nothing like a little time at home to get recharged and ready for the school year.

Here's how my weekend went down:

Friday
Remember how I had some doctors appointments? Well, my doctor had me go and
get some blood taken. This is basically my greatest fear.

Yes I am 24 and yes I had my mother sit by me the entire time.

So, naturally, after such a traumatic experience, you go shopping, right?
(still sensing the sarcasm?)

My mom and I headed to Burlingame Avenue for a salad at
my favorite place, some intense shopping, and fresh air.

Found some potential teaching essentials along the way :]

We later got some chinese from my favorite place around the corner
and waited for my Pops to get home.

Saturday
Pops took my mom and I to Jack's Prime in San Mateo for lunch.
We then stopped by Morrison School Supply.
It is my favorite.

My mom and I went to Costco to look into some new glasses.
We were successful!

We then stopped at Stanford Mall.
Yes, we really do enjoy shopping.

Sunday
We enjoyed a nice day at church.
It was fun to see church members here at home who I haven't seen in quite some time.
I love how the gospel of Jesus Christ is the same wherever I go :]

Hoping your weekend was wonderful, too!

Weekend Wrap-Up

I've been a little M.I.A lately...
Sorry :]

I have been having too much fun out in Virginia and
will be sad to leave later this week!

Here's what we have been up to:

Friday
I got to babysit the little girl in the morning and evening while my sis-in-law did some prep for a youth activity at church.

Wishing she'd wake up and play :]

She is so smart and her laugh is contagious!
Am I biased? Probably...
But seriously....best.baby.ever!

Between babysitting, the sis-in-law took me to the Reston Town Center for lunch and shopping.

Yes, we like to eat...

Saturday
We took off to the Zoo!
The National Zoo is free, so we jumped all over that!

It was absolutely beautiful.
There were people running outside and around the zoo, lots of families, and Uncle Adam even met up with us!

PS...that Orangutan was right up against the window tellin' us all "hi!"

After the zoo, we got some burgers at The Counter.
Great burgers.
Check their website to see if one is near you!
Bay Area friends...they just opened one in San Mateo....holla!

After some power napping, my brothers and I headed to the movies to see
The Amazing Spiderman.

Let's just say.... I'm a B.I.G. fan!
Ladies, I believe you know why ;]

Oh opps, how did that sneak in?
Apologies :]

Sunday
We enjoyed a relaxing Sunday, filled with church, food, and family.
Can't get much better than that, right?

The sis-in-law made us chili and some delicious

Looking forward to my last few days on the East Coast.
Hope your weekend was great, as well :]

Weekend Wrap-Up

I'm sitting here, sipping my Diet Coke, watching This Means War (team Hardy or Pine??), and recalling what a great weekend I had!

Let's talk about it :)

Nothing to do with the weekend...
I just love this!

Friday
Friday night some friends and I experienced the Manti Temple Pageant. A small group of us left around 4:40 pm to make the drive down to Manti in order to make sure we saved enough seats for our group (25+ people!).

While waiting, we got a delish turkey dinner, played Phase 10, talked, and enjoyed a warm, smoke-free (...have you seen those wild fires??) evening! Other friends started drifting in and we got all settled in for the show.

Although the pageant is pretty cheesy, I still love being reminded of the sacrifices made in order to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ and of the prophet Joseph Smith.

On our drive home, we saw wild fires spotting the highways.
We were right near the big red area....
Scary.

Saturday
I tried to sleep in....no such luck (boo) ! I did some laundry, ran to Costco, and did some other errands. Later in the evening, I brought a group of friends up to the Midway house. My aunt Kelly offered to have us up one night while she was in town.
She deserves some sort of "totally great aunt" award in my book :)

The night included:
swimming
ping pong
laughing
hot tubbing
A game or two of P.I.G
laughing
Dance Central
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
and laughing!

(sorry, no pictures...too busy having fun!)

It was fun to get out of Provo, enjoy some fresh air, and friends :)

Sunday
I went to church early to meet with the Bishop to receive a new calling. I was released from my stake calling about a month ago, so I was excited for my next adventure! Turns out I will get another opportunity to teach Sunday School in my singles ward. I did this a few semesters ago and it was a great learning experience!

We had wonderful church services and then I enjoyed a very quiet and relaxing afternoon at home.
As of this morning, I am living alone!

One of my roommates moved out in May to get married, another went home for a month, and the other moved back to Arizona.

Anyone wanna come keep me company?? :)

Glad that...
the 4th is in 3 days
St. George is in 4 days
D.C. is in 10 days
San Fran is in 18 days

Hope your weekend was just as bright!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Yet another fun weekend!
Here's how it all panned out:

Friday
I decided to stay home and work on some anchor charts for my classroom. It felt great to start getting more organized, content wise.

An anchor chart to help with Fiction and Nonfiction texts.
My activity will involve umbrellas, hence the depictions :)

I took my car in to Big O Tires to get my tires rotated and checked out. They had been sounding and feeling a bit off lately. Everything was "A O.k!"

Around 4:30 pm, a few girlfriends and I headed to 7 Peaks for a few hours. We went down some slides, laid in the lazy river, had some drinks, and enjoyed the sunshine.

We decided to head to a movie and walk around The Riverwoods for a bit. We grabbed some ice cream and sat outside. There was some sort of activity going on, so there was music being played. Hilary, Michelle, and I decided to try out Ellen's Dance Dare. Haven't heard of it? Ellen asks people to video tape themselves dancing behind people without them knowing. Sadly we didn't catch our sweet moves on video....

Saturday
I woke up to go to a 9:30 am softball game; our ward has an intramural team. We all had a lot of fun and won! That is always a plus. I really loved being outside with everyone and enjoying the nice weather.

After the game, Michelle, Meagan, and I were going to head out to see Brave, but neglected to remember on a Saturday afternoon at 11:30 am, a Disney movie will be sold out! We decided to have lunch at Red Robin instead. Such fun and great girls.

After some errands and some laundry, a group of ward friends and I got together and headed to the Trafalga Fun Center in Lehi to play miniature golf and laser tag. I had a lot of fun getting to know others a bit better.

We ended the night with a Sonic drink run.
A great Saturday :)

Sunday
I had an incredible day at church. We had a special Sacrament Meeting, where we had a hymn testimony meeting. We had the opportunity to get up and tell a little about our favorite hymn and then state a verse we'd like the congregation to sing.
It was a very powerful experience.

I shared the hymn "Reverently and Meekly Now." I love this hymn because it is as if the Savior speaking to me. My favorite verse is number 4.

"Be obedient, I implore. Prayerful, watchful, evermore.
And be constant unto to me, That why Savior I may be."

Get's me every time!

During Relief Society and Priesthood meetings, we had a combined meeting where the members of the Bishopric and their wives each took a few minutes and shared with us a lesson they've learned in life they'd like to share.

The Spirit was so strong and I really felt the Lord's love for me and how He is very aware of each and every one of us.

Michelle invited Chelsea and I over for dinner. She made a delicious Chinese themed dinner for a few of us. It was fun to have a home cooked meal. Thanks, Michelle.

After ward prayer, I went up to a game night with a few ward friends.

Here's to a wonderful week :)
Hope your week is looking just as bright!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Where to begin??
This past weekend was absolutely wonderful.

Friday
I had some things I needed to get done Friday, but I woke up and just wanted a day to myself. I decided I would drive to Salt Lake and walk around City Creek for a few hours. I loved being outside and walking from store to store, enjoying the fresh air.
I got a salad from Kneaders and loved people watching as I ate.
I also took a little stroll around Temple Square.
I love the Spirit I feel there :)

I stopped by my grandparents house and visited for a bit.
Pa took me on some errands and we picked up Hires for dinner.

I then drove back to Provo to change and head up Provo Canyon for our ward campout at Canyon Glen Park. We played volleyball, soccer, ate, played Uno, laughed, saw a raccoon steal our marshmallows, and enjoyed a beautiful summer evening.

Saturday
Our Stake had a service activity Saturday morning. Some girls and I carpooled up to Deer Creek, where we pulled weeds and did some beautification. It was nice to be outside and be around others in our Stake. We also got fed lunch!

I came home and took a cat nap and then edited my talk a bit.
Michelle and I headed to Seven Peaks around 5 pm and enjoyed an evening of water slides, people watching, and some good ole' bonding :)

Sunday
I think my talk went well! I know I certainly learned a lot and that is all that matters to me! It was a very edifying Sunday!

I headed up to Midway after church for a Father's Day dinner (thanks Julie, Debra, and Kelly!). While things were being prepped, some of us watched Act of Valor downstairs. What an awesome movie! It was very eye-opening!

Dave grilled up some hamburgers and hot dogs and we had chips, potato salad, etc.
It was fun visiting with everyone and spending some more time outside.
I ended the night with ward prayer and another movie!

(sorry for lack of pictures!!!)

This week will be spent in my classroom!
Anything exciting on your plate?

Weekend Wrap-Up

*** Are you checking out my daily pictures under the P.A.D. tab up there??***

The work week starts tomorrow.
Yes... I said work.
This will be enjoyable work, however.
My school district is having training sessions Monday-Wednesday for the new Common Core we will slowly be implementing in the state if Utah.

Thursday I will have a meeting with my team, as we discuss our curriculum for the year and get organized. Then, that evening, I will go to Salt Lake to attend a dinner for my cousin Lexie, who is getting married Friday. Excited for you, Lex!
My parents and other members of my family will be in town, too :)

Here is an attempt to stay up-to-date before things get crazay.....

Apologies for capturing the lady taking off her cover up. Awkward.....

Michelle, Chelsea, and I decided to head to Seven Peaks early Saturday morning. We got there before 11 a.m. and enjoyed a sunny afternoon. We read, basked in the sun, floated the lazy river, and went down a water slide.

After Seven Peaks, we tried a new restaurant in Provo/Orem called Which Wich? It was a neat sandwich shop, were you order with specialized bags, indicating exactly what you want on your sandwich.
Did I mention they have Monte Cristos???
Mmmm...MaMa's

Then we may or may not have tried a cupcake at The Sweet Thooth Fairy....

Love me some Red Velvet

After lunch, we decided to catch a dollar movie, only to find our dollar movie was in 3D, making it $7 bucks. No, thank you! We opted to see Men In Black: 3.
The rest of the night was relaxing...loved it.
PS. I'm addicted to the tv show Bridezillas.....

Sunday was relaxing.

I cleaned my room.
Proof...

Made taco salad.
...minus the tortilla and sour cream.

And got ready for the week :)

Hope yours was just as wonderful!!

Memorial Day Weekend

My weekend started off with a relaxing Friday, where I got a lot of classroom prep done and even sneaked in a $1 movie. Two girlfriends and I saw John Carter. If you have seen Friday Night Lights, Riggs is the main character, hence why we went. It was a very different movie and probably one I'd never own, but entertaining!

Check out these adorable owls I had laminated!
I am going to use them for classroom jobs and such.
I am going to put velcro on their bellies and then velcro the name of each student on an owl, that way I can use them for years to come.
I will then have them all in a tree and rotate them through the jobs!

On Saturday I woke up and helped clean our ward building. Then 3 friends and I headed to Midway to have some fun. We played the Kinect (Dance Central 2, Kinect Sports, and Adventures), went to The Store for lunch, went swimming, watched Captain America, and playing "anything goes" ping pong. I have not laughed that hard in a long time. It was great to get out of Provo with some fun friends and enjoy lots of activities.

Then that evening I enjoyed a much overdue phone call with my mom! She has been in Canada most of the week, so we hadn't talked much. Little did we know, we talked for 2 hours!! It seriously only felt like 20 minutes. I love her and how we can talk so easily for so long :)

The rest of the weekend included getting released from my stake calling, adventures up Guardsman Pass (I fell in love with all the aspens!), intense badminton competitions, an attempt to stay awake through multiple movies, and lots of food!

How was yours? :)

P.S. Guess who will be making a trip back East this July? And guess who is super excited to take her stinkin' cute niece to the zoo???

Weekend Wrap-Up

I had a wonderful weekend.
It was basically my first full weekend home in over a month!

I had a great week of substituting at Bonneville in Kindergarten as they did testing.
I am so excited to get so many of those kids next year in 1st!

Friday
I had a haircut in Salt Lake and visited my grandma and grandpa quickly. I had to race back to Orem for a faculty meeting at Bonneville. They introduced all of the new faculty members for the next school year and talked about a few things that will be happening. I loved already knowing most of the faculty. It has made the process so much easier. I am truly blessed :)

Later that night a group of ward friends and I went and saw Dark Shadows. Personally, I thought the movie was a waste of time, but I heard some did like it. I definitely won't be seeing it again, but I loved getting to visit with friends.

Saturday
Saturday morning I woke up and drove to Salt Lake for my cousin Lexie's bridal shower. My grandma hosted the event at her house and really spoiled Lex. It was wonderful to see the Clyde side of the family and visit with them.

I love my grandparents' backyard :)

 Lex opening our gift

Cousins!  Thanks, Melanie ;)

Later that evening, me and some girlfriends went to Brick Oven for dinner and then saw What to Expect When You're Expecting. We thought it was hilarious and just a fun. I really enjoy a girl's night out now and again.

Sunday
As always, church was wonderful and I came away knowing more than when I came. After a laid back afternoon, Chels and I and some other friends went outside to try to get a glimpse of the solar eclipse. A guy in a group had special glasses that filtered the sunlight so you could, safely, view it. It was really neat and I'm glad I could experience it.

I tried to make a pin viewer.....it didn't work too well :)

Hope you had a nice weekend as well :)
