High Five for Friday!

Oh heeeeyyyy, Friday!
Really glad you have stopped by!

Photobucket

Here's my top 5:

1. The day is finally here! Tonight, at 11:58 p.m., Maren, Chelsea, and I will board our redeye flight and set off to Miami! We are pretty excited :)

2. Today I will get to attend a field trip for my little Kindergarten friends at Bonneville. I got the opportunity to be one of the chaperons for the visit to Thanksgiving Point, so I bounced on that!

Some of the kids petting a baby goat :)

3. I found some adorable storage bins for my classroom at Target. Did I mention they are coral? Definitely one of my favorite colors. They were 5 boxes for $5.99 - can't get better than that! Maybe I need to go get more...... :/
4. I already mentioned it, but I got to see MY classroom this week :)
It's really happening!

5. Finding this on Pinterest....

Hope some wonderful things made your top 5 this week :)

Home

About a week ago I was browsing a friend's newly added Facebook pictures, only to find a snapshot they had taken of Foster City while up in a plane.

After looking at it a littler closer, I realized you can see our house!
After looking again, I found a few other landmarks :)

1- Home!!! We live on a 4-fingured shape island and our house is right below the number!

Here is an ariel view

2- Bowditch Middle School, where I attended 6th - 8th grade
3- Our church building. Many of our ward members have to drive 15-20 mins or so to get there, but we are fortunate to be very close!
4- Foster City School, where I attended 3rd - 5th grade

I love where I grew up; it is quite the little city.
Sometimes when I get a little aching for home, I look up my house on Google Maps.
It is amazing what you can do with technology!

There it is :)

Hope everyone is having a great week!

What's in My Bag

For the past several months I have noticed how a few of my favorite blogs have been doing a "What's in My Bag/Purse" series, where women dump their handbags out and show what's inside.

Thought I might take a stab at it :)

Here it is...

This is my favorite bag. I treated myself big time last year when I graduated from college and got it for a steal with my Macy's Friends and Family promotion. It's a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag and I have never had buyers remorse. I take this baby everywhere!
I could go on and on about this bag, but one of my favorite features is the over the shoulder strap! Like I said, no regrets!

I digress....enough about the bag!
Here's what's inside:

1- Sunglasses
2- Glasses
3- Moleskin notebook
4- Pens, pens, pens!

1- Marc by Marc Jacobs Wallet
2- Marriott room key  (left over from mother-daughter trip!)
3- Extra Peppermint gum
4- Aveeno mini lotion (this stuff is amazing!)
5- Zyrtec (the only allergy medicine that works for me)
6- Fresh Sugar Lip balm
7- NARS lipgloss
8- Laura Mercier lipstick (passion fruit)

Other things that are typically in my purse are my phone, my camera, and keys. I didn't feel the need to really capture those for you :)

There you have it. Now, what is in YOUR bag??

Getting my feet wet

Getting back into reality is such a drag!
Especially when I know I will be leaving it again on Friday!
Cue comment about up-and-coming cruise!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet with my team! In teaching vernacular, "team" refers to the group of teachers who teach in the same grade level. At Bonneville, we do a lot of collaboration with our teams. I love it. We actually let the kids leave about an hour early on Mondays so we can have an hour or so to get together as a team and plan. It makes us unified, accountable, and lends support.

They are so kind and welcoming. They took time to show me my classroom (so weird to think I have my own classroom!!!), what materials would be staying in the classroom, suggestions of things to purchase, an overview of things they tend to do in 1st grade, etc, etc!

Not going to lie.... I was pretty overwhelmed! The classroom setup and such is a piece of cake. The planning and organizing, however, is a different story. I am not sure most people quite understand how much outside work teachers do. I will need to plan lessons everyday for various content areas, making sure they are in line with Utah's State Core...which is soon changing to the National Core. That's right. We have standards we have to teach. Interested in learning more? Check out UEN.org  :)

This will be a fantastic adventure. I am nervous, but know I am capable!
This will be a busy, but exciting summer!

P.S. My sister-in-law has a little thing for blog design. She recently did my cousin's blog and made a comment on her blog that she would like to do a few more. I hopped at the opportunity. You might be seeing some changes here at The Little Things in the next little while :)
