Corte Madera

Had a fun shopping day with my mom today.

We crossed the Golden Gate to hit Marin County.
We really like The Village at Corte Madera :]

We ate sandwiches at Boudin and strolled from shop to shop.

I may or may not have found a new cardigan....

...oops :]

East to West

I'm here at IAD (Washington-Dulles) airport, waiting to head to the ATL (Atlanta....aka Hot Lanta).

From ATL I'll be heading to SFO (San Francisco).

Really excited to see Mom and Dad for a few days,
but not too thrilled for the doctors appointments that await me tomorrow.
Yuck.

Glad I could slip in a quick lunch with my brother, sis-in-law, and niece before leaving :]

Hope you are having a great Wednesday!

Oh and guess what???
3 days until the weekend :]

Travel Tuesdays

My mom gave me a really great idea this past week
and I wanted to give it a try ASAP.

She told me about one of the blogs she reads and how the author highlights
some of her favorite places and spaces she finds along her travels.

Thought I might as well give it a try :]

I'm calling this...

For my first post, I want to highlight
Georgetown  in Washington D.C..

I'm a little in love with this area.
Well, Virginia in general.

Walking around Georgetown, I am reminded of London.
The older architecture, the shop fronts, and relaxed attitude of shoppers.

First stop, Georgetown Cupcakes.
Ever watched D.C. Cupcakes on TLC? This is their little shop!

Here's a hint, if you get there early enough and follow them on Twitter,
you can get a FREE cupcake!

Each day on Twitter they post the name of a cupcake that is not on the menu. Be one of
the first 100 to ask and get it for FREE :]

Next stop, walking downtown
Like I said, I love the feel of the streets and how stores are integrated
within the original city structures. So much character and charm!

Parks and historical sites spotting the street

View of the shops

Lastly, a stop at La Madeline, a french restaurant on the main street.
We ordered the Croque Monsieur, a hot ham and cheese sandwich
with a garlic cream sauce. Mmmm mmmm :]

It came with a heaping side order of a pasta salad. Delicious!

My faves about Georgetown:

+ great area on the outskirts of D.C.
+ lots of charm
+ Shop owners are friendly and welcoming
+ Historical sites and plaques spotted the area  (learn WHILE shopping!)
+ Wide variety of food options (fro yo, french, kabobs, mexican, sandwiches, etc)
+ Wide variety of shopping (Anthro, JCrew, Paper Source, West Elm, Jack Wills, small boutiques, etc)
+ Brick sidewalks :]
+ River walk along the Potomac

- Parking is pricey $$

If you are ever in the D.C. area, check Georgetown out.
I think there is a little something there for any traveler.

The history buff...
the shop-a-holic....
the traveling family...
the young mommy...
etc!

Keep your eyes open for next Tuesday!
I'll be hitting up San Fran!

You don't wanna miss out :]

Weekend Wrap-Up

I've been a little M.I.A lately...
Sorry :]

I have been having too much fun out in Virginia and
will be sad to leave later this week!

Here's what we have been up to:

Friday
I got to babysit the little girl in the morning and evening while my sis-in-law did some prep for a youth activity at church.

Wishing she'd wake up and play :]

She is so smart and her laugh is contagious!
Am I biased? Probably...
But seriously....best.baby.ever!

Between babysitting, the sis-in-law took me to the Reston Town Center for lunch and shopping.

Yes, we like to eat...

Saturday
We took off to the Zoo!
The National Zoo is free, so we jumped all over that!

It was absolutely beautiful.
There were people running outside and around the zoo, lots of families, and Uncle Adam even met up with us!

PS...that Orangutan was right up against the window tellin' us all "hi!"

After the zoo, we got some burgers at The Counter.
Great burgers.
Check their website to see if one is near you!
Bay Area friends...they just opened one in San Mateo....holla!

After some power napping, my brothers and I headed to the movies to see
The Amazing Spiderman.

Let's just say.... I'm a B.I.G. fan!
Ladies, I believe you know why ;]

Oh opps, how did that sneak in?
Apologies :]

Sunday
We enjoyed a relaxing Sunday, filled with church, food, and family.
Can't get much better than that, right?

The sis-in-law made us chili and some delicious

Looking forward to my last few days on the East Coast.
Hope your weekend was great, as well :]
