Cruise: Day 2

Day 2
May 5, 2012

So remember how I told you we all slept until at least 10 a.m.?
The. Best. Nights. Sleep. I've. Ever. Had.

We headed up to the Lido deck (#9) to go to Emil's, the buffet restaurant, where we devoured pancakes, bacon, fruit well Maren did..., bagels, etc, etc. We also started the tradition of hoarding small cereal boxes each morning. These little suckers became our saving grace throughout each day when we needed a snack ashore!

Fruit Loops and Lucky Charms were the crowd favorite

We then enjoyed a lovely afternoon by the pool. The weather was wonderful- in the 80's every day. We went down the water slide, enjoyed lido deck activities and music, and reading our respective books.

Around 3:30 p.m., we headed back to our room to get out of the sun and nap/shower for the "Captain's Ball," where we were to dress up.

Check out our teensy cozy bathroom

We had a fun time figuring out the room's special blow dryer (that thing would eat your hair) and maneuvering around our room as the three of us got ready. We managed to get in very functional routine :)

We ate in the Golden Olympian dining room, where we had open dining, meaning we didn't have an assigned time, but could come whenever we wanted. After dinner, we headed up to deck 10 for some pictures.

We ended up seeing a family who we met on our flights from SLC to Miami, who happened to be on our same cruise. Did I mention they had 3 single sons? This became the joke of the trip...how many times can we see them in a day??

Because the boys were being stupid bashful, we had only talked to their sister-in-law, leaving us to create our own names for these three brothers. We named them Jason, Mike, and Dave. Wonderful names.

We later watched another show in the Venetian Palace (remember the room with the stage) and then sat in the lobby and ordered fruit smoothies and pina colodas. As we sat and sipped our drinks, we noticed one of the single brothers, "Mike," sat a few chairs away. My back was to him, but Chels and Mare said he just said he stared. Make a move buddy......

After our drinks, we then headed to the ships "club." Little did we know, you actually had to show your I.D. to get in. That was definitely my first being carded.

We had a blast dancing to the music. When we got there, there was maybe 4 or 5 other people on the dance floor. When we got movin', more started coming.

As we worked the room, guess who we saw peek through the window?? You guessed it, our single friend "Mike." And you bet he came in and danced, but never once coming up and formally talking to us. (If you lost count, that's at least 3 encounters that day)

The best part was when the DJ told us to make a conga line. This line consisted of maybe 9 people. Three of which were Chelsea, Maren, and me and two others were "Mike" and "Jason." As we conga-ed, the DJ said, "Well, you can tell where the drinkers are...they are doing the conga!" We lost it....basically 5 out of the 9 were LDS.....stone cold sober :)

Fantastic day with some fantastic girls :)

  1. I'm going to hope that by the end of these cruise posts, someone got your number! Sounds like a blast so far! I wonder how much hair was in that "cozy" bathroom after y'all left!
