I decided to stay home and work on some anchor charts for my classroom. It felt great to start getting more organized, content wise.
An anchor chart to help with Fiction and Nonfiction texts.
My activity will involve umbrellas, hence the depictions :)
I took my car in to Big O Tires to get my tires rotated and checked out. They had been sounding and feeling a bit off lately. Everything was "A O.k!"
Around 4:30 pm, a few girlfriends and I headed to 7 Peaks for a few hours. We went down some slides, laid in the lazy river, had some drinks, and enjoyed the sunshine.
We decided to head to a movie and walk around The Riverwoods for a bit. We grabbed some ice cream and sat outside. There was some sort of activity going on, so there was music being played. Hilary, Michelle, and I decided to try out Ellen's Dance Dare. Haven't heard of it? Ellen asks people to video tape themselves dancing behind people without them knowing. Sadly we didn't catch our sweet moves on video....
Saturday
I woke up to go to a 9:30 am softball game; our ward has an intramural team. We all had a lot of fun and won! That is always a plus. I really loved being outside with everyone and enjoying the nice weather.
After the game, Michelle, Meagan, and I were going to head out to see Brave, but neglected to remember on a Saturday afternoon at 11:30 am, a Disney movie will be sold out! We decided to have lunch at Red Robin instead. Such fun and great girls.
After some errands and some laundry, a group of ward friends and I got together and headed to the Trafalga Fun Center in Lehi to play miniature golf and laser tag. I had a lot of fun getting to know others a bit better.
We ended the night with a Sonic drink run.
A great Saturday :)
Sunday
I had an incredible day at church. We had a special Sacrament Meeting, where we had a hymn testimony meeting. We had the opportunity to get up and tell a little about our favorite hymn and then state a verse we'd like the congregation to sing.
It was a very powerful experience.
I shared the hymn "Reverently and Meekly Now." I love this hymn because it is as if the Savior speaking to me. My favorite verse is number 4.
"Be obedient, I implore. Prayerful, watchful, evermore.
And be constant unto to me, That why Savior I may be."
Get's me every time!
During Relief Society and Priesthood meetings, we had a combined meeting where the members of the Bishopric and their wives each took a few minutes and shared with us a lesson they've learned in life they'd like to share.
The Spirit was so strong and I really felt the Lord's love for me and how He is very aware of each and every one of us.
Michelle invited Chelsea and I over for dinner. She made a delicious Chinese themed dinner for a few of us. It was fun to have a home cooked meal. Thanks, Michelle.
After ward prayer, I went up to a game night with a few ward friends.
1. My mom and I bought tickets to see Aladdin at Tuacahn in just a few weeks.
I can't wait!! Girl's trip to St. George!!
2. I have been making anchor charts for our literacy activities!
I bought a chart pad and have been looking at what concepts I need to teach, then making the chart in sequential order. I then write the standard we are working on in the corner so I can stay accountable for what I'm teaching! Are you starting to see I'm an organization freak???
Don't judge my art work, please :)
3. My roommates as I are watching Lost.
I really love this show :) Team Sawyer or Jack? Always so divided.....
4. I picked up 4 boxes that my parents sent me!
My mom snagged over 30 three-ring binders that her work was giving away for me for my classroom and sent them my way!
Thank you!!
5. Had a really fun FHE this week. We went up Provo Canyon to play frisbee, kick around a soccer ball, and roast some s'mores. I love being able to be outside and enjoy the fresh, canyon air!
I'm off to run some errands and then spend some time pool side at Seven Peaks!
I had some things I needed to get done Friday, but I woke up and just wanted a day to myself. I decided I would drive to Salt Lake and walk around City Creek for a few hours. I loved being outside and walking from store to store, enjoying the fresh air.
I got a salad from Kneaders and loved people watching as I ate.
I also took a little stroll around Temple Square.
I love the Spirit I feel there :)
I stopped by my grandparents house and visited for a bit.
Pa took me on some errands and we picked up Hires for dinner.
I then drove back to Provo to change and head up Provo Canyon for our ward campout at Canyon Glen Park. We played volleyball, soccer, ate, played Uno, laughed, saw a raccoon steal our marshmallows, and enjoyed a beautiful summer evening.
Saturday
Our Stake had a service activity Saturday morning. Some girls and I carpooled up to Deer Creek, where we pulled weeds and did some beautification. It was nice to be outside and be around others in our Stake. We also got fed lunch!
I came home and took a cat nap and then edited my talk a bit.
Michelle and I headed to Seven Peaks around 5 pm and enjoyed an evening of water slides, people watching, and some good ole' bonding :)
Sunday
I think my talk went well! I know I certainly learned a lot and that is all that matters to me! It was a very edifying Sunday!
I headed up to Midway after church for a Father's Day dinner (thanks Julie, Debra, and Kelly!). While things were being prepped, some of us watched Act of Valor downstairs. What an awesome movie! It was very eye-opening!
Dave grilled up some hamburgers and hot dogs and we had chips, potato salad, etc.
It was fun visiting with everyone and spending some more time outside.
I ended the night with ward prayer and another movie!
Happy Friday, everyone!
Can't believe it is already mid June.
I'll be teaching in no time :)
Here are a few things that made my top 5:
1. Made this cute little guy for my classroom :)
Please note, I still need to add one more pom pom!
2. Found this in an old e-mail to my brother. I miss my puppy!!
3. Found these cute earrings on clearance at Target for $3.
I am trying to find more statement jewelry pieces!
4. I also found this cute accent piece on clearance for $4.80.
I have had my eye on this collection for a while.
I am thinking of putting it in my classroom at my desk or in my bathroom.
5. I finished my talk yesterday :)
Glad it is all done! Thanks, Mom!!
After a somewhat disappointing box last month, I was really excited to see what was in this month's box!
The theme of the box was "Jet Set," where they filled the box with things to aid in your summer travels.
Here's this month's loot:
What's inside?
1. Comodynes: Self Tanning Towelettes
2. Masqueology: Pore Minimizing Mask
3. Stila: One Step Bronzer
4. theBalm: Stainiac in Beauty Queen
5. Tili: Bag (plastic baggies to place travel sized liquids in!)
6. John Varvatos: Star USA (men's fragrance)
I really liked and am excited for everything in this box. Eh ok, maybe I'm not thrilled about the men's fragrance ;) I was especially excited about the Stila bonzer. Instead of a sample, they sent the full sized product. It runs for around $36! Totally got my monies worth this month :)
I am also excited for the Tili bag. This is a plastic baggie that you are to put all of your travel liquids in at the airport. Apparently your travel liquids need to travel in style, too :) Excited to test it out next month as I "jet set!"
Guess who got called to speak in Church on Sunday?
This girl.
So if you have any thoughts on how we (singles/no children) can prepare ourselves now for our temporal and eternal roles as mothers and fathers.....send them my way!
Yeah, easy topic, right? ;)
In other news, I am really excited for this weekend!
We have a ward campout, minus the camping part, Friday.
We will play volleyball, eat dinner, roast some mallows, play other games, meet new friends, etc, etc...
On Saturday, we have a stake service activity.
Want to know the best part about it?
I didn't have to plan a single thing!!
I got released last month and can't say I was too bummed out about it :)
We are going up to Deer Creek Reservoir and helping clean up hiking trails, weed some areas, and do other types of beautification.
